Workshop Technician – Welding Department

Overview

Express Recruitment are currently working with a leading institution who are based in the Midlands. Our client is looking for Welding Specialist to support students and tutors within the workshop with the delivery of mechanical and electrical apprenticeships.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the best Senior Leaders within the Engineering department at one of the top 100 Universities, and due to our client’s partnership with Rolls Royce, additional benefits and training opportunities are endless! Supporting the Engineering Tutors, you will also be working from a newly established, state of the art Engineering Academy.

Skills & Experience
  • Demonstratable experience of undertaking TIG and MIG Welding processes
  • Ability to support apprentices, passion for shaping the next generation of engineers
  • Communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with lecturers, technicians, and managers
  • Strong knowledge of CNC Machining, Welding and general Mechanical Engineering
  • Passionate about working in a team
  • Ability to work with young adults from all backgrounds
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Maintain all welding equipment and workshop spaces, always adhering to all Health and Safety regulations
  • Complete Health and Safety Risk Assessments for new students starting their Welding courses
  • Provide guidance on welding processes (TIG and MIG), welding machines and general expertise to students
  • Deliver informative sessions to apprentices on the use of high-end welding machines and provide training
  • Assist with assessments of student development on a periodic basis, discuss and plan resources for students who aren’t on track
