Temporary EHC Co-ordinator – SEND

Overview

Express Recruitment are working with reputable Local Authority and are urgently seeking an experienced Special Educational Needs Officer to manage all processes within a busy council department, with a focus to make a positive impact by supporting children and young people with SEND, helping to remove barriers to learning and enabling them to achieve positive educational outcomes.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of working closely with children, families, schools, colleges and partner agencies to assess needs, coordinate support and ensure the appropriate provision is in place through person-centred planning.

Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation, Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments and support planning
  • Experience working with schools, families and multi-agency professionals
  • Excellent communication, organisational and case management skills
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload while maintaining high standards of service delivery
  • Strong report writing and assessment skills
  • A proactive and person-centred approach to supporting children, young people and families
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Undertake assessments and contribute to the development of Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans
  • Liaise with a range of schools, colleges, families and partner agencies to identify needs and coordinate appropriate support
  • Provide advice, guidance and ongoing support to children, young people and their families
  • Coordinate multi-agency meetings and referrals for children and young adults
  • Support children and young people to access education, services and opportunities through person-centred planning
  • Prepare reports and documentation to support SEND processes, including tribunal preparation where required
  • Maintain accurate case records in line with safeguarding, data protection and organisational procedures
  • Build effective working relationships with education providers and external agencies to deliver positive outcomes
