Key Account Manager

Overview

Express Recruitment are proud to be working in continued partnership with a leading engineering organisation who, due to sustained growth, are seeking an experienced Strategic Account Manager to take ownership of a high-value key customer portfolio, based near Derby.

This is a pivotal, high-impact role with direct accountability for relationship management, pipeline generation, bid conversion, and long-term contract value. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at senior level, driving client engagement strategies that deliver increased revenue and market share.

There is an excellent remuneration package on offer, including a basic salary of up to £60k (negotiable) alongside a comprehensive benefits package including flexible working, electric car scheme, enhanced pension contributions, generous holiday allowance (increasing with service), employee discounts, and ongoing career development opportunities.

Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience within strategic account management in a commercial environment
  • Strong track record of pipeline management aligned to growth targets and improved conversion rates
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at a senior level
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and communication abilities
  • Experience managing forecasts and articulating opportunities with clear timelines
  • Good understanding of contractual terms, risk management, and pricing structures
  • Proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of strategic key accounts, leading relationship development to drive revenue growth and retention
  • Implement structured bid/no-bid governance to maximise conversion rates
  • Develop and execute win strategies aligned to scoring criteria, value for money, and social value
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure pricing discipline and competitive positioning
  • Manage pipeline activity, ensuring accurate forecasting and monthly revenue reporting
  • Continuously improve bid quality and conversion performance
  • Lead regular client meetings (weekly, monthly, quarterly) to strengthen engagement and identify opportunities
