Project Engineer

Overview

Express Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a highly innovative and well-established automation engineering business, as they look to strengthen their Projects team with the appointment of an experienced Project Engineer.

This role sits within a highly specialised industrial automation environment and would suit a Project Engineer with experience delivering bespoke automation, robotics, special purpose machinery or advanced manufacturing projects. The successful candidate will take ownership of the commercial, technical and operational delivery of complex electromechanical systems, leading cross-functional engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

There is an excellent remuneration package on offer including a competitive salary DOE, 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, company pension, occupational sick pay, flexible working arrangements, overtime paid at 1.5x where applicable, cycle to work scheme, BUPA Medical & Dental Cover (self-funded) and holiday buy/sell options.

Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in a Project Engineer, Project Manager or similar engineering project delivery role
  • Degree qualified in an Engineering-related discipline, or possess equivalent qualifications, training and experience
  • Strong understanding of project management principles including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, stakeholder engagement and change control
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced technical environment
  • Experience working within automation, manufacturing, robotics, industrial systems or related engineering sectors would be highly advantageous
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Manage the delivery of engineering projects from initial proposal through to final installation, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standards
  • Act as the technical and commercial lead between customers, suppliers and internal project teams, ensuring clear communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, schedules and updates in line with established project management processes
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams, monitoring project progress, managing risks and resolving issues to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Support business development activities by assisting with project proposals, reviewing project scope and contributing technical expertise during customer discussions
