PHD Mechanical Engineering Consultant

Overview

Express Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established engineering company operating within the energy sector. Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit a PHD qualified Mechanical Engineer Consultant to join their specialist team on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a PHD (or those nearing completion) who are keen to build a long-term career within the oil and gas / energy sector, working on technically complex and highly varied engineering projects. The role will be tailored to individual strengths and interests, with full support and development provided to promote long-term success.

In return, the successful candidate will join a forward-thinking organisation offering structured training, long-term career progression, and support towards Chartered Engineer status, within a collaborative and inclusive working environment. The starting salary is £35k-£40k, with a clear path for progression.

Skills & Experience
  • PHD qualified in Mechanical Engineering, with knowledge of Finite Element Analysis
  • Strong interest in the oil and gas / energy sector
  • Knowledge of engineering software such as ABAQUS, ANSYS or CAESAR II advantageous
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong communication skills with a positive, team-focused attitude
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Carry out engineering analysis including stress analysis and finite element analysis
  • Support delivery of pipeline crossing assessments and quantitative risk assessments
  • Assist with fatigue, fracture and defect assessments
  • Produce clear and accurate technical reports
  • Support project delivery and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
